Instant Messaging

I added and invited two contacts to join me, but didn't have time to follow through with an IM session. I won't use the instant messaging--I'll alway prefer the flexibility of email. I was happy to find AOL's acronym dictionary--I will use this often while deciphering emails from others.
It would be helpful to have an explanation of how patrons can and cannot use IM on the Library public PCs. IM is okay for some, but for me--I'll always compose emails using the "long hand" method.

When my daughter was living in Europe, phone calls were expensive, echoy and we we're always available to talk easily. We both had the instant chat windows and would sent a quick shout out to see if the other one was available. Viola! We found chat the best, quickest, easiest way to ask and answer questions (not easy in the new snail mail - email) So don't give up on the concept. It may come in handy sometime!
